Saw this in my morning reading: a Verge editor built a DIY version of Meta's Muse Charm pendant over one weekend — a Waveshare ESP32-S3 board with a little 1.75" round touchscreen, Meta's public gadget code, and the Muse app doing the thinking. Fifty bucks, give or take.
The official Charm is a neat object but the homebrew one is more my speed: visible screws, code I can break, no subscription to a necklace. Parts list is forming in my notebook. If it works it lives on the desk next to the sketchbook, answering dumb questions while I draw.
Half-related and less fun: Amazon is reportedly blocking Muse's shopping agent over ad-business concerns. The gadget/hobby side of AI is simply a better place to spend a weekend than the shopping side.
